Kittitas County Trading is Ellensburg’s premiere local firearms retailer, providing for all your handgun, rifle, shotgun, muzzleloading, ammunition, and shooting accessory needs. We have many models in stock from top manufacturers including: Colt, Springfield, Glock, Ruger, and Smith & Wesson.
Our knowledgeable staff is happy to work with you to find a firearm suitable to your needs. Please call (509) 925-1109 or stop by the store for personalized service.
We have the largest selection of pistols, rifles, shotguns and ammo in Ellensburg. Other gun accessories available for purchase include: holsters, cleaning supplies, lights, lasers, magazines, clips, optics, slings, and swivels.
In store firearm sales require a valid U.S. state ID for rifles and shotguns. (We DO NOT sell to people from California, New York, Connecticut or to any other state we are not comfortable selling to.)
Pistol purchases require a Washington State ID. Having a valid Washington concealed pistol license will greatly speed up the transaction times for handguns. If you don’t have a permit and want one, they are available through Ellensburg PD, or the Kittitas County Sheriff’s office if you live outside the city limits.
Out of state individuals will need to have their pistol purchase sent to an FFL dealer of their choice in their home state.

First Time Buyer
Choosing a first gun can seem like a daunting task with all of the options available. Be aware that many stores are only interested in selling you "something" whether it is right for you and your application or not.
Here at Kittitas County Trading we take the time to tailor a firearm to YOUR needs. It is helpful to come in, introduce yourself, tell us you are new to firearms and what you are hoping to do with your new firearm.
Early questions to consider are: Is the firearm for hunting, target shooting, concealed carry, open field carry for hiking and camping, or for home protection? Perhaps you have several of these needs by varying degrees.
Our staff is well versed in most applications and we know which firearms are comfortable and manageable. Just because a gun may be "small and cute" doesn't mean it has less recoil or ease of control. The trick is to find the most powerful gun that YOU can effectively use. If it's not fun to shoot, you won't feel inclined to practice.
Firearm Transfers
As an FFL (Federal Firearms License) dealer we are capable of accepting firearm transfers from any other dealer in the nation. In fact, most large internet sellers already have our FFL on file and are ready to ship directly upon your order. Don't forget to check with us first though as we may be able to meet or beat their price and save you the shipping.
If your seller does not have our FFL on file, please provide us their fax number or email address so we can send them a copy. We charge $40 for each firearm. Washington State sales tax will be collected on retail transfers. Private transfers are tax exempt.
Firearm transfers will be available to pick up the DAY AFTER they arrive, as we need time to process the order.
F.A.Q.s on PRIVATE TRANSFERS
Both seller and buyer must be present with Washington State ID and the firearm at time of transfer.
The monetary part between buyer and seller MUST be completed off premises before hand. A violation of this rule will cancel the transfer and you will be asked to leave.
If the buyer fails the background check, the seller is required to pass one before the firearm is returned.
We are not responsible for NICS delays. If the buyer drove from Bellingham to meet a seller from Spokane and there is a delay, that's your problem, you will have to come back. This also applies to any out of town buyer of a handgun without a concealed pistol license.
Private transfers will ONLY be conducted from 10AM to 4PM, Monday through Saturday.
NO handgun sales or transfers to Pierce County residents without a Concealed Pistol License.
If you have any further questions, call (509) 925-1109.
Internet Sales
If you see a firearm on our website that you would like to purchase, it is as simple as sending us a money order and a copy of your local firearms dealer's FFL (Federal Firearms License) so we know where to send it.
If you wish to come pick it up from our shop but cannot come in immediately, all we would need is a photocopy of your valid state ID or drivers license and a money order for 20% of the sales amount or more. This would secure the firearm you desire for 90 days. If you do not come in person before the 90 day expires, the firearm will go back out for sale and the deposit will be forfeited.
If you see something you like please feel free to contact us so we can assist you.
